How do I submit my songs?
You'll submit two tracks via links to your music profile through YouTube, Soundcloud, Mixcloud, or other streaming platforms.
Can I upload files of my songs?
For submission, we’ll need links to your YouTube, Soundcloud, or other music profile. The submission form does not allow for direct upload of mp3s or other file formats.
What do I include in my bio?
Your bio (short for biography) is where you tell us about yourself. Include things like where you’re from, who is in the band, how your band got together, what inspires you/your music, where you have performed (if applicable), and what your future plans are with music. (max word count 200)
If you were not selected as a finalist and/or previous winner, you can definitely submit your music again.
May I submit my music if I previously was a finalist but have formed a new band?
Unfortunately, no. Finalists are not eligible for re-entry to Vans Musicians Wanted. Please see our terms and conditions here.
Can I submit my music if I work at a Vans store?
Unfortunately, no. Employees of Vans or VF Corporation are not eligible to enter. Please see our terms and conditions here.
May I submit my music if I am under 18?
You’ll have to be 18 or over by July 23rd, 2021 to enter the contest. Please see our terms and conditions here.
May I submit multiple bands / music projects?
Yes. However, there is only one entry per email address so make sure you submit your projects as separate entries.
Will I receive a notification that my submission has been received?
Yes. You’ll get a successful submission message immediately after you click FINISH, as well as a confirmation email.
Will I receive a notification if my submission has been selected or not selected?
Yes. Finalists will be notified by Friday, August 13th. If you were not selected, you will also receive an update around the same time.
Does Vans have permission to use my music even if I am not selected?
Vans will not use your music without reaching out to you first.
Can I submit a cover of another song?
Unfortunately, no. Covers are not permitted.
What if I only have one song to submit?
In order to enter, we will need two songs.
Is it okay to submit music I created a few years ago?
Yes.
Can I choose multiple genres?
Yes.
Do my lyrics need to be in a specific language?
Nope. There will be an option to include a translation if you’d like.
If I’m already on a label, can I enter the contest?
Vans Musicians Wanted is a platform for truly undiscovered talent. Ideally, you won’t be represented by a label or a manager just yet.
How are submissions judged?
Submissions are judged on four criteria:
- Off The Wall - Does your music fit with Vans’ ethos and brand culture
- Originality - Uniqueness, creativity, and expression
- Technical Quality - Lyricism, instrumentation, and production
- Stage Presence - Energy and engagement
A team of judges will determine the Top 5 finalists for their region. Our global judges will use the same criteria in evaluating the finalists performing in the concert finale.
What can I win?
Each regional finalist will receive gifting from Vans, a subscription to a Tunecore music platform or service, music programming on Vans-owned "Next Era" Spotify & Apple Music playlist, music added to the GoBig! Library, a TuneCore pack, and a Kramer / KRK pack. The final winners will receive premium gifting from Vans, support for music video creation, a studio buyout for a day, a TuneCore Premium Pack, a feature in Vans Spotify audio ads that drive to your single in the featured Vans Playlist, a Kramer / KRK Premium Pack, and will get to share the stage with YUNGBLUD in January 2022. I can’t get my entry form to submit... help!
Make sure you’ve filled in all required fields properly, and check for any "!" in your submission form. If everything looks good, you should be able to submit.
