Storming hard onto the snowboard scene in the early 2000s with contest wins at the Vans Triple Crown, Burton U.S. Open, Gravity Games, and as being awarded the TW Snow’s “Rookie of the Year” in 2004 and “Women’s Rider of the Year” a year later, it’s funny to think that Leanne Pelosi was almost a pro soccer player instead of a pro snowboarder.
But female snowboarders the world over are happy the pioneering Calgary-native turned Whistler transplant followed her shred dreams instead. Now having made the transition to the sled-accessed pow lines instead of the park rails that helped build her name, it’s killing it in this environment that now defines her. The newest member of the Vans Canada team is also holds a bachelors degree in science proving what we’ve always known—she’s got a good head on her shoulders as well.
