For the first time ever, the Vans Hi-Standard Snowboard Series hit the french capital at Quebec’s Le Relais for the second stop of the 2015 Vans Hi-Standard tour. With warm weather and light snow falling from the sky, the riders were having a blast in Le Relais’s flawless snowpark, putting their best style on the line for a chance to get paid. Lots of high-fives and five dollar bills were given for each stylish trick landed properly on the jump section, for a total of $2000!
It was inspiring to see kids get out of their comfort zone and try the suggested tricks on the list we had planned for them. If they could land a trick from the list, then double the pay! With a lot of stylish girls as well as kids who shred like adults, the skill level was really good. Thanks to Le Relais for this great day, we saw some of the best switch sraight air in years!
Major shout out to the day’s MVP, Françis Jobin and to Marc Lemieux, most improved winner. Special mention goes to Samuel Boulerice, winner of the worst bail prize. Sometimes, you have to pay to play! Congrats to the Van Doren Rail Best Trick winners, Tristan Bingel for the 15 and under category ($200) with two winners for the 16 and over($300) Francis Lachance and Francis Jobin, for their
creativity and style on the rail section.
While riders were in the snowpark having fun and getting paid, the Custom Culture shoe workshop activation was taking place in the resort’s main lodge. With guest artist Lebicar (lebicar.wordpress.com) and over 10 participants designing their own pair of Vans shoes, creativity was the theme of the day. Congrats to Sheemer Voth, winner of the customized Vans giant Sk8-Hi shoe.
To wrap up the day, Vans Snow team riders Will Lavigne, Phil Jacques and Alex Gogo were on site to hang out and ride with spectators.
Thanks to all the riders and spectators who joined us at Le Relais last Saturday. Make sure to check out the Vans Hi-Standard Flickr page for all the photos from the day, available in high quality for you to download.
