Since turning pro in 2012, Gilbert Crockett's endeared himself to skateboarding by defining quality and detail. As Vans' sole East Coast rider, Crockett's endured industry changes by balancing his modest Southern roots and larger aspirations, while turning out must-watch clips. Gilbert's adaptive nature is the cornerstone of his skating and evolution. Spots, tricks, aesthetics, and approach are all elements that he weaves together with earnest relatability. Though he resists the label of "vintage enthusiast," his interest in design and construction has bled into his signature shoe designs for Vans as well as his store Cee Blues, that features antiques and vintage clothing.
Raw yet refined, Gilbert's impressive string of parts including a weighty section in Propeller (2015), the Thrasher Magazine hosted "Gospel" part, Bust Crew footage, and the Quasi's full-length, Mother (2018), prove that he's all-in and able to make any spot look unique. Still in his 20s, Gilbert's an old soul with a self-professed love for "old shit," he humbly pushes his skating, design, and approach in a direction rooted in heritage, history, and progression.
